FIR lodged against unknown person for killing 21 dogs

Pune: An FIR has been registered against unknown persons in connection with deaths of 21 stray dogs in Baner a week back. Nina Rai of NGO AaCT (Action for Animals against Cruelty and Trauma) lodged the complaint with Chatuhshrungi police station.

The bodies of the dogs were found on the ground opposite Athashri society on September 28. Officials from Chatuhshrungi police station visited the spot and conducted panchanama. The bodies of the dogs were sent for autopsy.

Police have registered the case for offences under section 429 (mischief by killing a cattle or animal) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Assistant Police Inspector Pramod Kshirsagar is investigating the case.
